 Toby wasn't very different from many of the Fox Terriers who come to American Fox Terrier Rescue .

Health issues, a sad circumstance and a Fox Terrier who definitely didn't have a bouncy Fox Terrier 'tude.

heidi3_mediumHeidi was left in an overnight drop box in early June near Raleigh, NC. Her physical condition and lack of socialization are strong evidence that this sweet little Foxie was a prisoner in a puppy mill - forced to bear litter after litter.

Ginger3a“Ginger’ was pulled from a Knoxville TN shelter in May 2008. She had a severe cough, which was initially thought to be aspiration pneumonia. She was treated by a vet while in her foster home for a short period, and when she was adopted by a wonderful family in SC, we thought she was on the road to recovery.

Zazu, 10 – 12 years old, was surrendered to a family relative to care of in May 2010. In early August 2010, she was surrendered to a local shelter with a report that she’d been recently spayed and in poor physical condition – a tender abdomen, prominent hip bones and backbone, the hair around her eyes so matted and dirty that her corneas were irritated, and severe dental tarter and periodontal disease.  The shelter contacted the vet hospital however they had no record of having spayed Zazu.  They vaccinated and de-wormed her and did a heartworm test which was thankfully negative.
