Myah

MYAH'S STORY

MyahonsofaMyah is 9 yrs old and doing very well with her foster family. Lydia, David and their 12 yr old daughter Beatrice have fallen in love with hits sweet little old foxie. Our other WFT rescue Oliver who is 3 yrs old is learning to get along with Myah and they are now playing tag in the back yard as well as fetch with the ball. It took Myah a good week or more to run around the yard without a leash and find her legs for running and playing. But she is very active now! House broken and very affectionate, I think Myah will do just fine adjusting to the good life of a loving home and family.

Please fill out an application and state Myah if you are interested in adopting her and taking time to learn about how it is to be a loved pet.

Tiffany

TIFFANY'S STORY

Tiffany1Tiffany is settling in well at her foster home.  Though she's reported to be 10, in Fox Terrier years, that's apparently not very old, as Ms Tiff loves to be out and about.  She's also a quick learner, getting housebroken in about 2 weeks.  She already knew about crating and sleeps quietly in her crate overnight.  During the day, she's given free roam of the house, but mostly hangs out near the people.   She isn't needy but does love to get pets and sit on her foster mom's lap to watch TV.  When not 'taming' squeaky toys or checking out new kitchen smells, she's usually found on a rug waiting for the next adventure.

Though fine with 2 spaniels and a male Welsh Terrier, this little miss would do best in a home without other small female doggies.  She's healthy, shows no aggression towards humans at all, is good on leash, calm and has barked maybe twice in as many weeks.  She got on great with 9 & 13 year old boys visiting for 10 days.  Because of her background, the noise level of younger children might bother her. Usually mellow inside, she wags away when you bring out a leash for walks, and skips around happily outside.  She likes car rides, is fine about eating near other dogs, though with her non-hurried eating, she usually gets gated away so no one steals her food.

Please fill out an application and state Tiffany if you are interested in adopting her and taking time to learn about how it is to be a loved pet.

Sheeba

SHEEBA'S STORY

Sheeba_2Sheeba is the youngest and smallest of the OH 7. Living outside of her breeder's shed is a really scary experience for her with all the new sounds, smells and experiences. New sounds that are routine to us like a dishwasher, washing machine, etc. particularly distress her. When she’s afraid, she flattens to the ground and walking on a leash is a work in progress. Right now, she has three speeds – walk, run or hop.

On a happy note, she’s learned how to navigate the stairs and is doing better on the hardwood floors. Housebreaking is progressing well in a very short time. When she greets people her tail vibrates with happiness. No matter how scary something might be to her, she is the sweetest, softest little girl who can't wait to cuddle and showers you with soft kisses. She’s learning to play with toys and has already performed her first squeakectomy.

Sheeba isn't quite ready to be placed in a home.  She's got a few trust issues to work through.  Keep an eye out for further updates and once she's ready to go, you can fill out an application.

TRAVEL DAY FOR THE OHIO 7

Thanks to everyone for their patience waiting for an update.  Summer is a busy time, but we're trying to keep you updated as soon as possible! (As always, click on the photos to see a larger view.)

July 23, Kim drove to WV and met up with Debi and Jill, two American Fox Terrier Rescue volunteers.  They transported three of the OH-7 to their foster homes plus Jacki, another of Kim's foster dogs who went to a foster-to-adopt home, and Rufus a young male that made it out of a shelter thanks to Mary and Jeanne, also American Fox Terrier Rescue volunteers, who drove him to Kim. He’s now being fostered in MD.

Babs

BAB'S STORY

Babs_not_sureBabs is an 8 year old spayed female.  She is beautiful and a great personality.  She is looking for an adoptive home where someone can help her learn what living in a house is like and getting all the love showered on her as possible.  She is doing well in her crate with minimum accidents; she walks pretty good on leash and just wants tons of attention and love.  Babs would do best as an only dog or with a non dominant male.  She would be fine around older children.  Please fill out an application if you are interested in Babs.

7/14/2011 Update from Bab's foster home:

Babs, PuzzleBob and I have been enjoying each other this first week. I've been trying to establish some routines, allowing Babs to learn about the world since there are some scary things - dumpsters, plastic bags and vacuum cleaners being pulled along the sidewalk; and some fun things - taking walks, visiting the dog park, cookies; and listening to NPR or the Washington Nationals Baseball games while the human does human things.  Seems that both WFTs would like to help me knit...

Babs is starting to answer to her name, is practicing "sit" and "wait" and showed some interest in the laser pointer when PuzzleBob was chasing it.  So far squeeky toys haven't attracted her attention. The carpet continues to be clean and dry as the house-training seems to be a quick lesson.

Babs has even made some canine friends.  Smokey is particularly nice since he doesn't ask much of his friends other than they hang out with him. All the humans think she is beautiful and so delicate, and no one can believe she could be 8 yrs young.

Hopefully a few of these pictures are clear and bright enough to be shared with the American Fox Terrier Rescue community.
